Sue GLovier Teaching Kitchen
A place for the community to eat, grow and serve.
-
Sue Glovier’s dedication to McDowell County is a shining example of community-oriented service, and LFAC celebrates the impact she has made. Sue worked professionally with McDowell County Schools as an educator, and then as a Director of Food Services. Sue also served the community in a myriad of ways as a volunteer. Promoting healthy food and eating and helping others learn how to prepare healthy meals has always been part of Sue’s life.
Sue’s service to the community has been far reaching and widespread across organizations and initiatives. Sue Glovier was awarded the 2013 Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, a volunteer service award for the top volunteers in the state. Much of that honor is due to her work with the Extension Community Association as well as other community service efforts. Sue has done everything in her power to help the people of her community through trailblazing efforts.
In celebration of Sue’s unwavering dedication, the Teaching Kitchen at the Foothills Food Hub will aim to continue her contributions to a healthy community through food. The kitchen is a place for community members, students, families, etc. to prepare and experience healthy meals, and to serve the community.
Sue advocated for healthy diets with fresh, local ingredients, citing the significant impact diet has on wellbeing. Whether you’re a working professional, or a student, a child, or retired- healthy food and community engagement build health and wellness and LFAC believes this can all start in the kitchen.
